State examinations
To obtain the qualification to practice the profession of PHARMACIST it is required to pass a State Examination that is annually issued by order of the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) and published on the Gazzetta Ufficiale.
The exams take place twice a year and the Department offer, before each of them, a retraining course.

The exam consists of two written tests and an oral exam.
The first written test will be carried out by the candidate choosing one of the three topics proposed by the commission concerning the analysis of food products, the assessment of their safety, hygiene, compliance with standards, nutritional and sensorial quality.
The second written test will be carried out by the candidate choosing one of the three topics proposed by the commission concerning the technical, economic, controls and rules related to technological and biotechnological processes for food storage and processing.
For each written test the candidates will have a time of seven hours.
The oral exam consists of a discussion related to the same subjects of the written exams, as well as in the discussion of the reports prepared by the candidate. It will last no less than 30 minutes.
During the oral exam candidates must also demonstrate knowledge of the discipline referred to in the law of 18 January 1994 n. 59, concerning the organization of the profession of food technologist and particularly article 2 concerning professional activity.
